Janae turned the big 2-5 on Wednesday, January 23rd. To celebrate we went to dinner at the Chalet in Pinetop with all of her family that lives up here. It's nice having family close. Ryan's dad lives up here too with his wife and their kids so we had a nice family dinner.
Here's a snapshot of most of the table.
Yesterday we went to the Phoenix Art Museum with Janae and Ryan. Janae wanted to see the new exhibit there for her birthday. Some of the painters exhibited were Monet, Millet, Matisse & Degas. There artwork is so beautiful. They would do multiple versions of one painting and it was neat to see a few different paintings of the same scene side by side and see the similarities and the differences. We had a lot of fun looking at the artwork that was on tour from museums around the world. It was very interesting.
They also had an exhibit on Richard Avedon's photography. I really enjoyed looking at his artwork. He took some great photos of The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe & Audrey Hepburn just to name a few. They also had a piece of artwork there called Fireflies. You walk through the artwork and it is so beautiful and looks like it goes on forever. I think Fireflies was my favorite piece.
We had a great time at the museum. Janae really enjoyed doing that for her birthday. We wish we could have stayed in the valley longer to do more things, but we had to get back. It sure was nice to get out of the mountains and doing something that involved art and culture for a change.

Aaah, to be so young again!! I was a young mother of one (Lisa, of course) at that age. She has her whole life ahead of her!! How nice you can enjoy museums - there was a time we frequented them also!!
Sounds like a good time!!
